Art that Gives

Sponsored by St. Peter's Episcopal Church Women
for the benefit of local charities.

Hosted in charming, coastal Lewes, Delaware (“The First Town in the First State”) St. Peter's Art Show has been a summertime highlight at the Delaware beaches since 1966. The show occurs on the first Saturday of July each year, drawing 140 fine artists and fine craftspeople from the Mid-Atlantic region and beyond. Wonderful paintings and photographs, exquisite jewelry, masterful carvings, beautiful ceramics and mixed media creations and much more can be found the in the exhibitors’ booths that surround St. Peter’s Square. The artists and craftspeople also donate works to the show’s raffle and silent auction in order to raise even more funds for deserving charities!

In addition to the art, guests of the show enjoy a modestly-priced turkey salad croissant luncheon prepared by the ladies of the ECW, as well as musical and children's entertainment on the church’s grounds.

All this set in Lewes’s quaint downtown, with an array of specialty shops and restaurants to boot!

The event is free and open to the public, so come rain, come shine, come one, come all: It’s a must-attend event for the Cape region!

Applications, Fees, and Deadlines

Application Form:

Application Deadline: April 1, 2008 (postmarked by).

Non-refundable booth fee of $100.00 is due with application; make check payable to St. Peter’s ECW. Applicants who are not accepted will have their checks returned.

Those who did not exhibit in 2007 must submit at least three work samples which are representative of what will be exhibited at the show:

  • direct us to your website;
  • submit digital photographs to stpeterslewesartshow@verizon.net; or
  • send photos with your application (will not be returned).

2007 exhibitors who meet the current show standards only need to submit samples if work has changed significantly.

Standards

All work must be original, designed and made by the applicant or under the applicant's direct supervision. Copyrighted designs not owned by the artist are not permitted. We do not accept work made from commercial molds, kits or patterns, or other commercial methods. Neither do we accept factory-made items, with the exception of those embellished by original art or craft-work of the applicant. Originals must be signed. Limited editions must be appropriately numbered or identified as artist's proofs. Unlimited editions must be clearly identified.

Applicants will be admitted on a rolling, first-come-first-serve basis, following these standards. In order to maintain our desired ratio, the committee reserves the right to deny access to later-arriving, qualified exhibitors whose media are already sufficiently represented. Should you wish to discuss whether or not it’s appropriate for you to apply, please contact Jen Mason at stpeterslewesartshow@verizon.net or via the church office at 302.645.8479.

Booth information

Specifications: Exhibit must fit within 10’x10’ space on sidewalk or street location designated by the committee. Booth spaces accommodate free-standing canopies (provided by exhibitor, if desired). Booth spaces will extend to 11' wide to allow for "breathing room" between exhibitors. This extra space must remain free and clear, with exhibitors' property remaining within their space and not impeding other exhibitors or patrons.

The exhibitor is responsible for setting up and removing the exhibit and assumes full responsibility for his/her goods and personal injury.

No electricity is available.

While we make every effort to honor specific booth requests, we cannot guarantee particular spaces.

While smoking is permitted on the streets at this outdoor event, we ask that you please be particularly considerate of your fellow exhibitors and of the public should you wish to smoke. St. Peter's Square is a smoke-free environment.

Referral awards

Referrals awards of $30 will be paid to any current exhibitor who is named on an accepted new applicant’s application. If a new applicant lists more than one referral, the award will be equally split.
